National Board Certification is a voluntary and rigorous process that recognizes outstanding teaching practices. Educators who earn this certification—National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs)—have demonstrated that they meet the high standards set by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. In Washington State, it is regarded as the highest level of professional certification for teachers, reflecting a deep commitment to student success and lifelong learning. Pullman School District is proud to have 18 National Board Certified Teachers, exemplifying educational excellence and dedication to our students and community. |
This section features a message from Superintendent Maxwell, sharing district highlights, reflections, and updates on priorities and initiatives.

As spring arrives in Pullman, our schools come alive with a wide range of activities that showcase the talents, interests, and diversity of our students. Across Pullman Public Schools, spring is a season filled with opportunities for everyone to connect, celebrate, and engage.
One of the best parts of my job is attending co-curricular events, athletic competitions, and student productions and experiencing firsthand the incredible work of our students and staff. In many cases, these events also highlight the strength of our community partnerships, which play an important role in supporting and enriching these opportunities for our students.
Our athletic programs are in full swing, with student-athletes competing in track and field, baseball, softball, tennis, soccer, and more. These events bring energy and pride to our school community, as families and community members gather to support our students and celebrate teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship.
At the same time, our performing arts programs continue to shine. Spring drama productions and music performances highlight the creativity and dedication of our students, offering audiences memorable experiences while providing students with meaningful opportunities to express themselves and showcase their talent . In addition, the Pullman High School Art Festival showcases the impressive artistic talents of our students, giving our community an opportunity to experience a wide range of creative expression and celebrate student achievement in the visual arts.
Clubs and student organizations also play a vital role in enriching the student experience during this busy season. These groups create spaces for students to explore their passions, develop leadership skills, and build connections with peers who share similar interests.
Two standout events this spring beautifully illustrate the power of student leadership and community engagement. Pullman High School’s AAPI Club recently hosted a Multicultural Night, bringing students, families, and community members together to celebrate diverse cultures through food, performances, and shared experiences. This event not only highlighted the richness of our community but also fostered greater understanding and appreciation among attendees.
|
Similarly, Lincoln Middle School’s SOCA Night provided an opportunity to celebrate culture, identity, and community. Through student-led activities, performances, and displays, SOCA Night created a welcoming environment where students and families could come together to learn from one another and honor the diversity that strengthens our schools.
These events and so many others happening across the district reflect our commitment to providing well-rounded experiences for students while strengthening connections with our community. Whether attending a game, enjoying a performance, viewing student artwork, or participating in a cultural celebration, there are countless ways to get involved and support our students.
We are proud of the vibrant opportunities available in Pullman Public Schools and grateful for the continued partnership and support with our families and community members who help make these experiences possible.
Sincerely,
Bob Maxwell

We value these opportunities of connection and look forward to future events where we can engage with the community and organizations in benefit of the Pullman School District. |

During Summer 2026, Pullman School District will transition from Skyward SMS to the newer Skyward Qmlativ system as part of a statewide modernization effort required by WSIPC (Washington School Information Processing Cooperative). This transition will require periods with no access to Skyward (SMS and Qmlativ) and impact enrollment applications. |
For families and community members unfamiliar with the platform, Skyward is the district’s Student Information System (SIS). This system is used to manage student enrollment, attendance, grades, schedules, and other important student records. Our district joins others in Eastern Washington making this transition to ensure continued support, improved functionality, and future-ready technology. |
Families planning to enroll a student in Pullman School District should be aware of an important deadline related to the Skyward Qmlativ migration.
- Enrollment portal CLOSED July 9-26, 2026
- Enrollment applications must be submitted by July 8, 2026 or AFTER July 26, 2026
- Enrollment applications not submitted by July 8, 2026, will not transfer to Qmlativ and must be restarted once the new Qmlativ system goes live on July 27, 2026.
|
Skyward Family Access will close for the summer as part of the District’s normal year-end rollover process. Families are encouraged to log in prior to June 18 if they wish to save or print information such as report cards, schedules, attendance records, or other important student information.
|
|
TThere will be no access to either Skyward SMS or Skyward Qmlativ during this migration window while the district completes the transition to the new platform. Families and staff are encouraged to mark these dates on their calendars.
|
|
Skyward Qmlativ will officially go live on July 27, 2026. At that time, access to the enrollment portal will reopen in the new Qmlativ system and will begin accepting enrollment applications.
|
TWhen Family Access returns on August 3, families will receive an email with instructions for logging into the new Skyward Qmlativ system. Existing families can begin completing the Annual August Update process for their student’s currently enrolled in one of our schools.
|
|
All existing student information, records, and historical data currently housed in Skyward SMS will transition to the new Qmlativ system as part of the migration process.
Additional information regarding login procedures, passwords, mobile app access, and family support resources will be shared throughout the summer ahead of the August 3rd launch of Qmlativ Family Access.
You can learn more about this migration by visiting the district’s Qmlativ Migration webpage at the link below.
The District appreciates the patience and partnership of our school communities as we prepare for this important system upgrade.
