Chromebook Protection Plan

Students and parents are responsible for the Chromebook that is issued to them, just as they are for other district-loaned items such as textbooks, calculators, cameras, athletic equipment, or library books. The CPP provides families some financial protection if the Chromebook needs to be repaired.

The annual Chromebook Protection Plan (CPP) is available for students in grades 6-12 only and can provide some peace of mind if something should happen accidentally to the Chromebook. Enrollment in the CPP program is optional. The CPP cost for Chromebooks is $5 (non-refundable) per year, per student that covers the first accidental damage. Keep in mind that damage caused by gross negligence and willful destruction is not covered by the CPP.

You can purchase the CPP and complete the Chromebook Protection Plan Agreement during Lincoln Middle School's Spartan Start-Up or Pullman High School's Greyhound Gear-Up at the start of each school year. You can also print the Chromebook Protection Plan Agreement form and mail/deliver it to the school's main office, pick-up a form at the school's office or make a payment online to enroll in the optional Chromebook Protection Plan.

If you do not want to be responsible for the Chromebook, please discuss this desire with your school's principal.

Why Purchase the CPP?

The total replacement cost of a district issued Chromebook provided to students can cost up to $300. Participation in the CPP can reduce liability for the student and their family if their Chromebook needs to be repaired. Keep in mind that damage caused by gross negligence and willful destruction is not covered by the CPP.

The CPP does not cover the following:

  • Lost Chromebooks
  • Stolen Chromebooks without a police report
  • Damage due to gross negligence or willful destruction/vandalism. Gross negligence is defined as the failure to exercise slight care in the handling of the Chromebook.
  • Liquid damage. Liquid or water spills into the keyboard typically render the Chromebook unusable and only the screen can be salvaged. Thus, students/families will be fined the full replacement costs of the internal components. BE SURE TO KEEP THE CHROMEBOOK ON A DESK OR TABLE AND AWAY FROM WATER OR DRINKS.
  • Missing/damaged chargers are not covered by CPP.

"A student will be responsible for the cost of replacing materials or property which are lost or damaged due to negligence. A student's diploma may be withheld until restitution is made by payment or the equivalency through community service".
